Seniors on sailing trip in Greece – “We were well taken care of”

Mia and Anders recently returned home from a sailing trip with More Sailing in Greece. A week that offered beautiful views, balmy swimming stops and new acquaintances.

Name: Mia Chrona & Anders Tell | Age:  67 and 70 years old | Home town: Stockholm | Sailing destination: Greece

Why did you choose to travel with More Sailing?

“Twenty-three years ago I went sailing with my family in Greece. Back then we rented a 50-foot yacht with no crew and we were the biggest boat in all the harbours. When Anders and I sat and thought about where we were going to travel this autumn, both of us felt that it would be fun to try something new! When More Sailing appeared via an ad on Facebook, we felt it would be a perfect fit,” says Mia Chrona.

What's the best thing about going on a sailing trip?

“For me, it’s that you sail during the day and in the afternoons you go into different harbours and can stroll to cosy restaurants that are often located along the edge of the quay,” says Anders Tell, as Mia Chrona agrees.

“Yes, going on a sailing trip with crew is such a convenient way to sail, whether you don't want to or can’t sail by yourself. I never felt worried and we were so well looked after, partly by our skipper Morgan who was reliable and knowledgeable, and partly by our host Karin who served amazing food every day. I really hope More Sailing launches a cookbook for people sailing in the future, with nice pictures of the food we were served.”

What is it like to go on holiday with others on a yacht?

“We are really pleased with the whole week and the guests got along great together. Even though we didn't know each other before, we all got along very well. People who book a trip like this enjoy the sea and maybe also sailing – so you have the same interests. But you don't have to be a sailing enthusiast to go on this kind of trip. For me (Mia), I’m just crazy about the water and boats.”

How was the accommodation on a yacht compared to, for example, a hotel?

“We think it's always exciting to see what kind of hotel room you get when you go on holiday – and this was no exception. We were very pleased with our cabin on the boat, which was close to the toilet and shower. You get your own private space where you can close the door when you want to get away for a bit.”

4 highlights of the sailing trip in Greece

  • We visited a bar near an old windmill on the island of Kastos. That evening all the guests on the boat met a bit spontaneously at the windmill and had a great evening with incredibly beautiful views.

  • Meals on board the boat always came with such a happy and nice atmosphere. Even the day when it was pouring down with rain and Karin served fish soup inside the boat, the atmosphere was really fantastic. I do not understand how, in such a small kitchen, she was able to create all those delicacies!

  • We loved all the opportunities to swim from the boat and I didn't miss a single swim!

  • It is nice that there is a dinghy with a motor on the boat, to go on excursions with. Among other things, we stopped at a cave that some of the guests went into, which seemed fantastic!
