Which boat is best for you?

Which suits you best?

Catamaran or monohull

We supply both catamarans and monohulls and will be only too happy to help you select the right model and size. Bareboat catamaran charters are popular in the Mediterranean and are a comfortable way to holiday if you are a bigger group and prefer a larger sundeck. Monohulls are generally more seaworthy and provide a different type of sailing experience. They also often come at a lower price.

Step by step

How does a bareboat charter work?

A bareboat charter overseas can be complicated, but we are here to help you as you navigate it. We will walk you through the process of choosing a boat and making a booking – everything from what happens when you arrive for check-in, the trip itself, all the way up to your journey home.

Your questions answered

How far in advance should I book?

Our rental boats usually get booked up about a year before departure. If you have preferences for specific boats and equipment, it’s a good idea to book as early as possible so that you have a wide selection to choose from.

What licences are required to hire a boat from you?

In order to charter a sailing boat and sail yourself, one person on board must hold a licence for boats under 12 metres and a coastal skipper licence for boats over 12 metres. Additionally, an SRC certificate (VHF) is also required. You will also need a valid passport.

Consult the Swedish Council for the Education and Training of Yachtsmen (NFB) if you are not sure whether your licence/certificate meets the requirements.
As the boat charterer, you are responsible for having the correct certificates.

What types of boats do you offer – catamarans or monohull boats?

We offer a wide range of both monohulls and catamarans of different sizes. Depending on your preferences and requirements, we have boats for both sporty and more comfortable experiences. Unsure which boat is best for you? Feel free to get in touch!

Can I hire a yacht with a skipper?

Absolutely! If you don’t feel completely comfortable sailing yourself, or just want the convenience of having an experienced skipper on board, then hiring a boat with a skipper is perfect.

What is and isn’t included in the price?

Included:
- Fully insured yacht of your choice

- Kitchen equipment
- LPG

Not included:

How does the deposit and insurance work?

Before the charterer is given access to the boat, a deposit must be paid to cover any damage that may occur during the rental period. The amount is stated in the quote, booking confirmation and/or invoice. The amount of the deposit differs from boat to boat.

We want you to feel secure when hiring a boat from us, which is why More Sailing offers charterers the chance to take out deposit insurance at the time of booking and before departure. This insurance protects the charterer from losing their entire deposit. This separate deposit insurance consists of two parts: a fixed price that is not refundable (the cost of the insurance), and a reduced, refundable deposit payable by the customer at check-in.
Deposit insurance does not cover the loss of an anchor, chain, dinghy or outboard motor.

Read more about the terms and conditions here.

What happens if I have to cancel?

If the trip is cancelled up to 40 days before departure, 50% of the price of the trip is refunded. If the trip is cancelled 39–0 days before departure, 100% of the price of the trip will be charged.

What equipment is there on board the boat?

On board the boat there are:
- Life jackets
- Fire extinguishers
- First aid equipment
- Safety harnesses
- Navigation equipment
- Safety equipment
- Bed linen & towels
- Kitchen equipment
- LPG
- Inflatable boats/dinghies (outboard motor is additional)

You can find the individual equipment list for each boat model on our home page.

Is there help available to plan the route and itinerary?

Absolutely! We can recommend routes and give you tips on the best places to visit, if you’d like us to.

Do I need to pre-book harbours when I’m out sailing?

If you want to stay in different harbours during your sailing trip, it’s a good idea to book these in advance to ensure you get a place. We recommend that you download the MySea and Navily apps, where you can search for harbours and make bookings. More details are included in the travel information we send out at the time of booking.
