Meet the couples who went sailing in Croatia – “the best trip ever”

Croatia's inviting coastline and beautiful archipelago with its thousands of islands and islets should of course be discovered from the sea. That’s what Petra Hallin and Mia Johansson thought, bringing their husbands along for a week’s sailing with More Sailing. Once back home, they rushed to book again – for the same trip next summer!

“Together with two other couples, we were 8 guests on board and we felt at home straight away,” says Petra. “The catamaran is stable and comfortable, with plenty of space and large social areas. You put on your bikini and it’s truly easy living from the first second.”
Easy living?
“You don't have to worry about anything, the whole environment is sunny and turquoise blue. While we took a morning dip, our hostess Felicia served up a fantastic breakfast buffet. We could sit there and talk for a good while and then we sailed for a few hours and went swimming along the way. Anyone who wanted to could try stand-up paddleboarding. Or take the opportunity to learn a little about sailing. Or just relax of course, maybe lie down and sunbathe on the net in the bow. Everything is always very flexible. Felicia prepared fruit and snacks such as seasoned cheeses and Croatian charcuterie. And then it was time for lunch; there was such incredibly good food all week and always something for every taste. Later on we docked in a nice harbour, it was striking how well organised everything was. We freshened up a bit and had a drink on the boat before we went ashore and had dinner at some cosy restaurant that we chose ourselves.

Visiting several beautiful islands
Croatia is one of the sunniest countries in Europe. The exact route is determined by the wind. Going ashore on islands like the windsurfers' favourite Brač and lavender-scented Hvar was interspersed with swimming in hidden coves on lesser-known islands – like tranquil Vis where the latest “Mamma Mia” film was shot.
Mia remembers a very special morning in particular.
“We set off really early to see the sunrise out at sea. It was magical. The coffee pot was hot and we took a lot of pictures.”

In the safe hands of the skipper and host
None of the guests on board had any previous experience of sailing a catamaran.
“We have a motorboat at home, but to be able to sail in such beautiful surroundings together with two caring hosts who both know the boat and the area is something completely different,” says Petra. “Our skipper Gustav and hostess Felicia took such amazing care of us. We were amazed at how incredibly competent and caring they were, they had everything under control. We weren’t required to do anything whatsoever. At the same time, it's more fun if everyone pitches in, so we did help out with mooring and some cooking, just the right amount.”
More Sailing’s package for sailing in Croatia where everything is included, from the flight and skipper to food and drinks on board, is appealing according to Petra and Mia.
“It's the best possible set-up all the way through,” says Mia. “You are in good hands from the moment you get off the flight. They had thought of absolutely everything. We got community and joy into the bargain – we had so much fun together. This was truly the best trip ever. Of the 8 of us on board, 6 have already booked the same trip again next year. It probably won't be the last time either...”
